When is enough enough? When can we start to assume that too much sugar/candy will not benefit us in the long run. This is not a rant against reality television. This is not a rant against cable news. This is not a rant about parenting. This is not a rant about art. This is not a rant about the East Village in the 90's. This is not a rant about Portlandia.
This is not a rant about hipsterism as we know it. This is just a simple question I must ask, when is enough enough? When will we hit the overload button and start fresh. With new ideas. And when will we not be so worried about the small details that don't make a dent in the big picture. You do watch more TV when you have kids. They sleep. You must be quiet and listen. So I watch old rock docs on Nirvana and I remember. And I forget. And I live. And I breath. In a postmodern world, everything is moving faster. Information needs to be concise. That's why my new songs are all under 3 minutes long. The Ramones only needed that long to make their point. A hook. A chorus. A melody. A rhythm. A recording. Available at iTunes practically immediately. For human consumption. I guess I'm just apart of the wheel that we call pop culture. So I guess I'll just try and keep feeding the masses what they want. Being a wheel doesn't necessarily mean reinventing it. But maybe now it does. Now more than ever.
