Welcome My New Blog: Brooklyn Rocker Dad!

Hey All,

So welcome to my new blog, "Brooklyn Rocker Dad"....Dedicated to all the rocker dads out there.....

Yes, I'm a dad...and yes I'm a rocker....

My songs have appeared on many TV shows including Smallville, Real World, Ghost Whisperer and October Road...
Barack Obama used my song "Oregon" in his Super Bowl Ad....I have played shows all over the country....

I grew up in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and started playing in bands when I was 14....
I went to school in Minneapolis where I started playing acoustic shows in Dinkytown where Dylan started out....
I moved to New York and quickly became apart of the Anti-Folk scene in the East Village in the late 90's....
I moved to LA in 2000 where I got a development deal with Warner and played up and down the West Coast....
I moved back to NYC in 2005 and started the band The Darlings with Jason Darling and Michelle Albano which became The Dramas after Jason departed the group....
We released 2 EPs...All the while I continued releasing solo records....
This year, my wife Lisa LaCour and I welcomed our first daughter Dylan Ruth Zweben (Yes, named after Mr. Zimmerman).... into the world...
She has been not only an influence on my life but on my music....
So life as a rocker and a dad has an interesting mix....I can play shows and be in the studio all night to come home to my beautiful daughter who looks at me like, "Dad, who are you and where the hell have you been.."...
Luckily, I've been off the road since she's been born focusing my energy on recording and writing....
I'm an avid writer/blogger as well so I look forward to sharing my life and experiences with you all....

So stay tuned to many stories of rocking and fatherhood....Comments are appreciated....
And yes, I am working on a children's record but more in the vain of Cat Stevens than Raffi :)

Peace,

BRD
