I took baby Harper for a stroll in the ergo this afternoon to soak up the sun. I'm stoked that she's taken to the bottle since Mama went back to work.
I like to take her on the streets with lots of trees to protect her from the sun. I don't like to put the cover over her unless she's sleeping because I feel like she's like the boy in the bubble and I want her to feel the wind on her face. She's almost 3 months and is becoming more aware of her surroundings. I don't want her just to nap on me, I want her to experience the world.
And I want her to experience our neighborhood as well. Including my favorite local dog JJ (See Below). Dylan met JJ when she was around Harper's age so it seemed perfectly normal that we ran into him this afternoon. But JJ's on his last legs. And sometimes I think JJ is telling me something. JJ's owners, a couple from a different time who look like they might have spent some time with Hunter S. Thompson and Allen Ginsberg back in the day, are always up for a conversation about life and dogs. I enjoy random conversations about nothing with strangers. I stop to think about JJ, his owners, my circumstances, my children, my wife and my life. And then I move on.
