to the midwest: bob mould's "see a little light"

I want to recommend another book to all my peeps: Bob Mould's autobiography "See A Little Light" (Coming out: 6.15.11) Growing up in Wisconsin and being turned on to bands like The Replacements & Husker Du at an early age had a profound effect on me as a musician and as a person.  I could relate to the sound and the edge and they were speaking to me b/c living in the Midwest, or shall I say growing up in the Midwest can feel isolating especially for an outsider like myself (my folks were New York transplants).   Especially in a place like Minneapolis where I went to college and spent months inside during long winters crafting songs to sing to lonely girls in empty coffeehouses in Dinkytown.  But I was off to Manhattan before you could say Prince to chase another kind of girl and a different kind of life but let's get back to Bob's book. He talks about touring with Nirvana & hanging out with William Burroughs in Lawrence, Kansas and living on the road and trying to maintain relationships while being a rock star and living in Brooklyn and Austin and Minneapolis and his inspirations and of course......Amsterdam.
