listening to david gray's white ladder on a rainy/snowy march brooklyn day takes me back to san diego, the album spoke to myself and my friend/attorney at the time (still my friend but distance makes it hard to keep track of everyone these days)....it was like david was singing the theme to our lives as young men searching for more in life. "can you tell me why time after time you drag me down?", my oh my, we knew what david was speaking about. it didn't matter where you were from, how much money you had, david made the record on his own in his apartment (supposedly you can hear the vacuum cleaner from the neighbor's house on a track :) ....I love stories like those. I love this record like I loved that moment in time. the world was new, I had just moved to california not knowing a soul but the folks I'd met in austin @sxsw....I played a 2 night stand in the atrium of the embassy suites,...if you were there you'd remember me :) but back to dg, I ended up getting to meet david when he played in LA and we shared a moment: he told me to never stop believing in music and I took his advice :) thanks david.
