On Rise Sport Music's upcoming release "Waiting For Nowhere" Dan Zweben, scheduled for release on January 18, 2011. Zweben is an artist who answers the question, "Where is all the good, catchy pop music?" Zweben is both a rocker and a pop artist, playing up this contrast on this new release. His breezy voice lingers on lyrics that hint darkly at themes of loss, pain, and general human regret. And the music behind those arresting words takes even more daring twists: as great as Zweben croons with a sugary harmony arrangement, prepare yourself to be surprised within moments by one of his vicious guitar riffs.
A standout track is the heartbreaking promo single, "You Don't Have To Love Me". A lesser singer would perhaps drown in sentimental ooze, but Zweben makes a very mature story about two adults who have realized their love is finally over. The music video for “You Don’t Have To Love Me” features One Tree Hill/Law & Order star Michaela McManus. See video at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsTxOtVpDEo
Additional standouts include “I Do,” and “Manhattan”. “I Do” was produced by Canadian Grammy nominated Jay Ruston, who recently mixed Leonard Cohen’s “Live in London”. “Manhattan” was inspired by a Sinatra biography and a Mexican vacation, where Zweben met Crazy Heart/T Bone Burnett collaborator Bob Neuwirth, and features drummer Marc Slutsky (Gavin Degraw & Goo Goo Dolls).
Waiting For Nowhere also contains the youth song from President Obama’s '08 Presidential Campaign (national commercials, including Super Bowl spot), and some TV star power, with songs you may have heard on the WB’s High School Reunion, ABC’s October Road, Noggin’s Just Jordan, MTV’s Real World, WB’s Smallville, MTV’s Surf Girls and TV Land’s High School Reunion.
