Even The Losers: Petty Was One Of Us

he sang about isolation...about being a loser...about being an American....that's why we could relate to petty...he was one of us...he didn't come from money....it wasn't about the money....when Jimmy Iovine said to Petty after hearing the first single off the first album...He exclaimed "We're gonna be millionaires!"...It was never about that for Petty....And we need to take something from his death....maybe it's not all about the money....maybe you should prioritize things differently in your life.....all of us...me included...yeah, we need to make a living but at what cost? where are the true artist today?  in music, in tech?  it was about changing the world for petty....he believed in rock and roll....and so do I....but...you don't need to tour to feel it....you can bring it into your own life...you can show your kids petty's music and tell them people do things in life unrelated to making money....people, like me, what to change the world for the better...want the music to bring us closer...to get us closer to our dreams.....and petty.....you were a dream to so many of us.....

so here's to you....even the losers get lucky sometimes......
