Songs Vs. Words
A blog....Fill with words.....So different from a song....A song has chords and structure and melody (hopefully) and a chorus and a bridge (sometimes, overused) and key changes (yuck!)....
But words can truly express the human heart. And words often get left behind in music today. But words always matter to me. They are what rings true in life. They are the grounding below our feet. Words are lives that we repeat.
Words are like reflections in the water. Words move us to tears sometimes, just like a song can lead us to tears.
But words are joy. And songs are joy. And words are life and they give us meaning and belief and truth and love. And without them we would not know each other.

Monday Morning Blues
There's a world of wonder out there
But you just can't see it
Your hiding behind your shadow
You can't find a fit
Your experience, your independence is clear to see
My lack of desire, has got a hold on me
I'm strengthening my mind and my heart
And my friendships, I'm distancing myself
From my past and learning to adapt to the future
Music use to make the masses move
Now we sit in front computer screens
And communicate with ourselves
Write for our only readers
Listen to our favorite records
Watch the clock tick
Wait till the end of the day
Plan our vacations
Retirement
401K
Equity
College funds
Put our dreams on hold
I say don't wait another moment
I say, write that business plan
Call that girl
Quit your job
Leave the city
Leave the country
Find a small village in the South of Spain
And write your book, teach english to the young
If not now...when?

The Statue Of Liberty
I run down to the promenade many days during the spring and get to witness The Statue Of Liberty, the place my Grandfather came on a boat by himself with his cousin at 11 years old another century, another lifetime ago.....We see that monument and we know what it is to be an American and how much we sacrifice and will continue to sacrifice, but now we are at a cross roads, and now we must ask ourselves, if we are truly ever to be the country we've always promised to its citizens...a place where the possibility of living the American dream is alive and possible. And with this we must take care of our neighbors. And we must act as if every decision is our last. Because life matters, and you don't get a second chance. And we remember those who have past and those who are not with us. From high school, from friends to family...life....comes and goes and you must live each day as if it were your last especially in these times, be safe be well my friends....

I Know I'm Home....
I know I'm home
When I wake in the middle of the night
I know I'm home
When I feel like everything is alright
I know I'm home
When I turn the corner on my block
I know I'm home
When I turn off the clock
I know I'm home
When I look at you
I know I'm home
When the day is through
I know I'm home
When I hear "Da, Da,"
I know I'm home
When I hear Yo Gabba Gabba
I know I'm home
When I put you to sleep
I know I'm home
When I have what I need
I know I'm home
When the snow's outside
I know I'm home
When I'm here for the ride
I know I'm home
When I hear you laugh
I know I'm home
On this ocean raft
I know I'm home
When I walk down Court
I know I'm home
When the day is short
I know I'm home
When I hear the Beatles
I know I'm home
When I walk on pins and needles
I know I'm home
When I watch you play
I know I'm home
Everytime I wake
I know I'm home
When I've had a day
I know I'm home
When I don't have to say
I know I'm home
I know I'm home......
